Description
Currently all name relations are displayed as if they where homonyms (non ... nec ...)
Bei Basionym und replaced synonym wird die Beziehung in den taxonomischen Datenbanken einfach nur so dargestellt:
Cichorium spinosum L., Sp. Pl.: 813. 1753 ≡ Acanthophyton spinosum (L.) Less., Syn. Gen. Compos.: 128. 1832
≡ ist gleichbedeutend mit "Basionym" oder "Replaced synonym"
Take the following tickets into account: #6678, #5857, #5856, #4177, #5697 (check master ticket for more?)
Oder of name relations by type:
- Basionym icon: ≡
- Replaced synonym icon: ≡
- Validation icon: –
- Homonyms [non ... nec ...]
- Orthographic variants (named corrections for phycobank) these are displayed in a special way, see #8196 and #6678
The name is always followesd by a footnote key for the footnote which contains the *${ruleConsidered} ${reference}:${referenceDetail}`
Examples:
- Phycobank:
- Navicula adminensis:

- Subject changed from improve display of name relations to Implement a block to display name relations
This is rather a request for a new feature than an improvement for the existing implementation which creates an inline representation of name relations to be appended to the taxon name cache.
What is being requested here is a block displaying a list of relations. Therefore I am changing the subject of this ticket

the main issue is perfectly implemented, clear & correct wording
minor issue of the display: no separating character between Articles, reason and bibliographic citation of the relevant ICN
In this bibliographic reference we need the bibliographic authors, not the nomenclatural ones.
no separating character between Title and series (this seems to be a general issue).

now the bibliographic authors are being used, please review again.
The missing separating character between Title and series is already in the database like this: "Turland, N.J., Wiersema, J.H., Barrie, F.R. & al., International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (Shenzhen Code) adopted by the Nineteenth International Botanical Congress Shenzhen, China, July 2017Regnum Vegetabile, 159" This is clearly an issue in the titlteCache, the reference has no in-reference.

Review: the bibliographic authors are used. This part is resolved, fine.
"Turland, N.J., Wiersema, J.H., Barrie, F.R. & al., ..."
the bibliographic author team is shortened by replathing the fourth til the nth author by "& al.".
This is only acceptable if there is a link to the complete reference in the system.

I created a ticket (#8320) to discuss the linking of references.
Closing this issue as there is nothing else to do about it.

As discussed the reference of a nom. status or name relationship is meant to say who says that this status/relationship exists. It is not meant to cite the nomenclatoral code taken into account. Code information can be added freetext to the rule considered field.
Therefore I think we need to reopen this ticket.

"the reference of a nom. status or name relationship is meant to say who says that this status/relationship exists. It is not meant to cite the nomenclatoral code taken into account."
The Code cannot say that a concrete name is invalid or illegitimate. But the Code is the better reference in conjunction with the rule considered, than any other reference. I do not understand, why we should reopen the ticket.
Or do you mean "PhycoBank" is the reference and rule considered is "Turland et al. 2018, Art. 60"?? And if so, why we have just a freetext and do not have a reference for the referenced code there???

I think that adding a second reference to the NameRelationship
and to NomenclaturalStatus
would not hurt but would be helpful in a couple of ways:
- makes the meaning of the reference field clear
- consistency in referencing the code publications. Without this field consistency would need to be realized through the UI which is not the best way to deal with these things.
The ruleConsidered
field would be a citation detail to the nomenclaturalCodeReference
field

Thanks, Andreas K.
@ Andreas M.: please keep in mind that some rules and/or article numbers of the ICN may change. If we want to run Information Systems for ten years or longer, it is essential to know which (correct cited) Code is referred to.

In the developer standup today we almost already decided for adding an enumeration field to NameRelationship
and to NomenclaturalStatus
to allow expressing the code exactly.
The enumeration type should offer string representations for the full citation, and appreciated citation, key of code (ICBN, ICZN, .....) for filtering and publication year, for ordering.

There is now new tickets for this #8398 (model change) and #8399 (dataportal)
I think that we can close this issue, agreed?
