Description

Probem: in Micoalgae, a type specimen can be designated, but nobody knows how the taxon looks like. E.g. Two different species have been described, sharing the same holotype specimen. To overcome this problem, colleagues put in texts like "hologype UPCB 78281 repesented by our fig. 2"

Example: Workingset for Ruwer, D.T., Ludwig, T.A.V. & Rodrigues, Liliana, Two new diatom species (Bacillariophyceae) from Brazilian floodplain: Actinella hermes-moreirae sp. nov. and Gomphonema mutunensis sp. nov. in Phytotaxa 395(2): 71-80. 2019

The problem is, that puting in a specimen in Phycobank disables a fig. reference. This make sense, because the figure is no holotype, but we are not able to put in another line for the image, because the figure itself has no standing (and we decided not to use the inofficial term "iconotype".

There are two possibilities:

  1. enable a figure reference if a specimen is entered, than an additional figure shows the respective type but is not the type itself in terms of ICN.

  2. to insert a published note, stating this.

1 and 2 would need some kind of adjustment for the portal output.
