In in the reference selection dialog search alternative identifiers should be usable for searching. usable. In search result the alternative identifier and the titlecache of the reference should be displayed (behind titleCache in brackets []. Make configurable via preferences. There is a method in IdentifableServiceBase "findByIdentifier" which might be useful.
