Description

The configuration dialog should be opened everytime the import button is clicked.

At the moment the configuration and the classification needs to be configured separatly, this results in wrong configurations.

Also the choice of the classification and of the source needs to be part of the configuration dialog.

The dialog needs to be structured putting groups of parameters together. Such groups could be:

Taxonomy:

  • Classification
  • Create new classification for new taxa
  • Reuse existing taxa when possible
    • Ignore authorship
  • Nomenclatural code (for new taxa)

Link to taxon

  • Create an "individual association" in taxon facts for each specimen
  • Reuse existing descriptive group

Specimens:

  • Do not import existing specimens
  • Unit ID mapping
  • Remove country from locality text

Specimen derivates:

  • Import all children of cultures or tissue samples
  • Biocase provider for DNA

Media:

  • Import media as media specimen

Source:

  • Import source reference

Also a reuse of sources needs to be discussed.

I fear that just opening the import config dialog does not really help.
I suggest to solve this problem differently:

  • place the target classification select in the import config dialog
  • store the whole config in the local prefs
  • re-use the stored import config for each import as log as this is available in the local prefs

I mostly agree though I think that your suggestions should not be implemented alternatively but additionally. We also have discussed already to handle the classification IN the configurator dialog (it was simply missing in the ticket description). Also we discussed grouping config parameters which may help handling them for the user (was also still missing in description).

Storing the config with each import is definetely a good feature but it should be voluntary as sometimes you have a predefined configuration which you usually want to use and only 1x you run an exceptional import. This way you destroy your predefined configuration which is not wanted. So I suggest 2 buttons, first is "Import" and second is "Import and store configuration".

Also we have to have in mind that the import config is also a DB preference. So in case there is a DB preference with NOT allow override the config needs to be disabled.

(I put this ticket back to New as additional comment is not required, only if someone wants to further comment he/she may do so)
