observed with taxonNode/139e7314-dd19-4286-a01d-8cc94ef77a09/childNodes.json for Fauna Europeae
The TaxonNode.getChildNodes() propery returns the null objects!
this is potentially related to #5681

Katja, can you please have a look if this is still an open issue and if yes if it is related to the known hibernate NULL value issue?
If yes again, can it be easily fixed?

I checked several databases (also the actual fauna europaea on PESIHPC) and there where no problems with the sortindex anymore.
