I can not save another value then the current "2" in the settings. Therefore I also can not test.

Please change label of settings to "Position of & al. in nomenclatural teams".
Also change the first description to "If a team has more members then the given number & al. is used. E.g. if the team is Rivas Mart., Wildpret, del Arco, O. Rodr. and the number is 3 Rivas Mart., Wildpret & al. is shown instead.".
And the second description to "If this value is empty or <2 the full team is shown".

Also move it down into or above "Taxon Name Display" and add a frame.

This is also fixed now.
So it should be complete. Please review (Note: Abies alba test taxon accepted name has a 4 person team)

I think for 2 as value the formatter does not work correctly, the result is Abies alba Abdyeva & al., I would expect Abies alba Abdyeva, Asadova & al.

No this is wanted behavior. The parameter is called etAlPos, so it is the position of the et al. In your example et al comes at position 3.
The wante (by taxonomists) behavior in this case (etAlPos=2) is also that if a name has 2 authors both authors are shown, if it has >2 authors 1 author is shown + etAl. This is also implemented such at other places (e.g. bibliographic references).

ERS:
Yes, I can confirm that what Andreas describes is the wanted behavior. It seems to be a misunderstanding, and can sometimes be seen in the literature, that “& al.” can be placed deliberately behind a variable number of authors. This is not the case, the only option that we use (and think it should be used) is 1 author & al.
