Redmine EDIT - feature request #9780 (Closed): Split rank grex into grex (ICNCP) and grex (infraspec)https://dev.e-taxonomy.eu/redmine/issues/97802021-09-22T10:25:18ZAndreas Müller

Hieracium aphyllum grex singulare Zahn in Koch, Syn. Deut. Schweiz. Fl. ed. 3: 1809. 1901
Hieracium bernense grex filicaule Zahn in Koch, Syn. Deut. Schweiz. Fl., ed. 3: 1833. 1901
...

NoK:

"ARTICLE 4: THE GREX (https://www.ishs.org/sites/default/files/static/ScriptaHorticulturae_18.pdf)
4.1. The formal category for assembling plants based solely on specified parentage
is the grex. It may only be used in orchid nomenclature. The rules for forming grex
names are laid out in Art. 23 of this Code. ...

If ICNafp is selected do not show cultivar ranks

Make it possible via preferences to select in nomenclatural code field only from certain Codes (e.g. only ICN and ICNCP), alternatively remove ICNCP from Codes as selecting one of the cultivar ranks (#6387) may be enough to decide that ICNCP is meant (ask taxonomists for correctness of this idea)

How to handle cultivars using infraspecific scientific name part (the rank can not be defined here as the rank is used for setting the cultivar rank), should rank marker be entered into the infaspecific epi field as this is a rare case, maybe change label in TaxEditor in this case?

We do now allow editing all nomenclatural codes and subtypes (e.g. fungi).

Therefore we need to implement appropriate cache strategies for all these codes.

Cultivar names are handled in #9754

The only possible ranks for cultivars are CULTIVAR, GREX, CULTIVAR_GROUP, GRAFT_CHIMAERA or DENOMINATION_CLASS.

Note: CONVAR was prior in this list too, but turned out to be not a cultivar rank.

We still need to discuss if graft-chimaera and demonitation classes are really ranks or only flags.

EDIT - feature request #5981 (Closed): Add abbreviation to Rank "Cultivar"https://dev.e-taxonomy.eu/redmine/issues/59812016-07-15T11:32:13ZAndreas Müller

For formatting it is helpful to have the abbreviation. Maybe not always necessary if name is handled as CultivarName, not BotanicalName.

Abbreviation will be "cv."

Also add as idInVocabulary
